History

The Federation was officially created in 2012 at the VI Congress of Polish Student Societies in Warwick. Before that the platform to collaborate was the annual Congress. In 2012 the first edition of Science. Polish Perspectives was organised in Oxford and the LSE SU Polish Business Society started organising the Polish Economic Forum. In 2013 the first Education, Empowerment, Employability Summit was organised at the University of Lancaster. All of those events are now important dates in our diaries and we hope that our community will continue to grow.

The Federation is a young organisation, but the history of Polish students in the UK goes way back. It started in the 1940s when young Poles were forced to leave the country and they came to the UK. This is when the Association of Polish Students Abroad was formed. It was a large organisation uniting Polish students not only from the UK, but from all over the world. Their activities included an annual gathering, publishing a magazine and fundraising for scholarships.

In 2014 Polish President Bronisław Komorowski awarded us with a symbolic Polish Flag. We were very happy to accept this Flag as an award for all the Polish students proudly representing our country in the UK.
